Do you cart your paintings from one venue to another?
Do you transport commissioned work to their new owner?
Of course you do! You're an artist, and you're not just painting for your own personal enjoyment. You hope to sell your work so that you can head on over to the art supply store and buy more pastels for your collection. Oh, wait, that's me... but if you're anything like me, you are trying to sell your work to add valued supplies to your studio for easier, more enjoyable creation time.
Carting around paintings from one location to another is a bit of a task. My pieces are all framed under glass so I need to be cautious, and careful how I move them around.
Today I want to share with you these great boxes that I had made by a local handy-man. He has made many for our local art club members and I think the idea deserves to be shared.

It is constructed with
- 4 pieces of 1x3
- 2 pieces of corrugated plastic
- upholstery tacks
- hinge, latch and handle
- screws

On one side of the top piece, there is a hinge. This top piece lifts open so that you can slide your picture into the box.

This is the other side of that top piece. It has a latch to keep the top from popping open.

The handle...

The sides are screwed on in the corners, and tacked in around the edges. I have found on one occasion that the tacks popped out.
When you are building your new box, remember not to tack the plastic along the top of the box.

Inside... I can fit one large picture in here, but I have also fit more than one smaller, more narrow pictures in at once.

I always wrap my pictures in plastic or bubble wrap just in case it rains. But it also acts as good protection for the frame.
I hope you found this helpful... I would love to hear your packing tips when preparing for events and shows. And hey, thanks for stopping by :)
